We value Computing within our school and encourage our children to experience different ways of accessing mobile technology. Our children are able to access a wealth of resources and explore different technologies to suit how they learn.

With all of the potential that the online world and new technology offers, young people now have access to huge opportunities. They use technology to express themselves, explore, and be creative; technology has changed the way they communicate. The Internet has changed all of our lives, and your child has grown up during this change. Many of the things that confuse, baffle or even scare us are part of everyday life for them. For many of us, this can all be a bit too much.

It is likely that you’ll be playing catch-up with the way your child is using the Internet. You might be wondering whether what they are doing is safe, and you might also be thinking about how you can watch out for them as well in their online activities as you do in other areas of their life? We take online safety very seriously at Parkfields and we ensure that all pupils receive regular lessons to understand the potential risks online and how to report concerns if necessary in order to stay safe online.

The online safety of our children is of paramount importance to the school and something that we monitor and revisit regularly. Staff are trained on online safety ensuring that they are up to date with new information and best practice.

If you have any concerns or problems regarding your child and online safety please contact Mrs McNeil via schooladmin@parkfields.cbeds.co.uk (marked for the Online Safety Co-ordinators attention)

Our school offers an open door policy so please discuss any concerns with your child’s class teacher or with Mrs McNeil our Online Safety Co-ordinator. A meeting can be arranged before or after school time if needed.

Remember you can also report any online concerns to CEOP via their online safety centre.

Safeguarding both adults and children is about preventing the risk of harm from abuse or exploitation or having the ability to reduce it by raising awareness and supporting people in making informed decisions.
