Equipment

All maintenance should be carried out by IT support staff.

Always check files brought in on removable media/device with a teacher using antivirus software.

No food or drink near any IT equipment.

Printing should only be done with a teacher’s permission

If needed Smartphones can be brought into school but must be switched off and kept in the pupil’s locker whilst on the School premises. No other handheld devices should be brought into school unless a teacher has given permission. The school takes no responsibility for any damage or loss of this equipment.

Care should be taken when using all handheld devices e.g. iPads, data loggers and Chromebooks.
Security and Privacy

Protect your work by keeping your password to yourself; never use someone else’s logon name or password.

To protect yourself and the systems, you should respect the security on the computers; attempting to bypass or alter the settings is unacceptable behaviour.

Your files and communications will be monitored to ensure that you are using the system responsibly. Files and documents on the “Common Drive” must only be deleted by the author.
Internet

Never give out any details about yourself or arrange to meet anyone.

Users shall not visit Internet sites, make, post, download, upload or pass on, material, remarks, proposals or comments that contain or relate to: pornography, promoting discrimination of any kind, promoting racial or religious hatred, violence, gambling, promoting illegal acts, any other information which may be offensive to other members of the school community.

If inappropriate material is accessed accidentally, you should immediately report this to your teacher so that this can be taken into account in monitoring.

Parkfields will monitor and audit the use of the Internet to see whether users are complying with the policy. Any potential misuse identified by Parkfields will be reported to the Head of Computing and/or other relevant person.
Email / Messaging

Only open attachments to emails/messages if they come from someone you already know and trust. Check that they have a sensible subject title. Attachments can contain viruses or other programs that could destroy all the files and software on your IT device.

If you receive an email/message containing material of a violent, dangerous, racist, or inappropriate content, always report such messages to a member of staff. The sending of an email/message containing content likely to be unsuitable for children or schools is strictly forbidden.

The use of email/messaging for bullying will be investigated and dealt with in accordance with the school bullying policy.
Physical security

Doors to IT rooms should be kept locked at all times when vacant. If a door has been left open, close it and ensure it is locked.
Images of pupils
You should always ask another student or a member of staff for permission before recording their image. If they do not give you permission then you must respect their decision. If the image is to be used online check with a member of staff if the pupil has photographic permission from their parents/carers.
