Green Credentials
At Parkfields we are very proud of our progress towards being as eco-friendly as possible. Much of this is led by our Eco Committee, however the whole school community contributes to the ongoing efforts and ideas for new ways to help.
You can find out more information about the Eco Committee here.

Recycling
We are very midful around recycling. As well as the waste bins and recycling bags we have recycling points for pens, batteries and printer cartridges. We are also trialling the use of refillable whiteboard pens.
Poly Tunnel
Our Poly Tunnel is used year round mainly by our Science and Food Technology departments to grow flowers, plants, fruit and vegetables.
Solar Panels
Wehave solar panels installed on the roof of the school which generate electricity that we can use in school and any left over goes back to the grid and helps us save money on our bills.

Lowering our Carbon Impact
We are always working hard to lower our carbon footprint year-upon-year. We have achieved this with a number of actions such as:
- Motion and movement sensors to turn off lights after a given time
- Network settings which create eco sleep mode across the day on our desktop and classroom projectors
- LED lighting across the school
- Food waste recycling
- Reusable and recylable kitchenware
- Reduction in the amount of plastic goods sold
- Water fountains and expectations toward refillable school drink bottles
- Controlled taps and heat settings to manage unecessary power usage
- Promoting walking, cycling, school buses and lift sharing via our Travel Plan
