We expect pupils to be dressed according to the uniform and dress code that is clearly outlined on the school website. Our belief is that this is a vital aspect of ensuring high standards of behaviour and discipline. 

Parent/carers sign up to a home-school agreement that states that they will ensure “their child  wears the correct uniform”. We expect this to be complied with and the school will implement  sanctions on those who choose to disregard this.

SCHOOL UNIFORM 

• White ‘Parkfields’ embroidered polo shirt or 

• White tailored ¾ length sleeve, open neck blouse or 

• White school blouse or school shirt

• Dark green ‘Parkfields’ embroidered jumper 

 

• Smart, tailored black school trousers that have been purchased from Prestige or recognised  Schoolwear Departments. (Some examples of unsuitable trousers include: tight fitting trousers  (such as leggings), jeans, very baggy or flared trousers or trousers with studs (this list is not an exhaustive list, if in doubt consult the school) or 

• Smart, grey, knee-length skirt - pleated or straight (not stretch jersey material)

• Smart, tailored black shorts

• Smart, tailored grey skorts

 

• Sensible black shoes (not boots or trainers, maximum heel height of 6cm) 

• Plain black, grey or white socks (not trainer socks) or 

• Plain black socks may only be worn with trousers 

• Plain white socks should be worn with the skirt 

• Black or green tights in winter (not ‘sheer’) 

• Plain black belt if required 

• Headscarves – white, black or dark green (as school jumper)

GENERAL POINTS 

• Make sure all PE kit, clothing and equipment is named. Tags are best as they do not wash out. 

• All shirts must be tucked in. 

• We ask that children do not wear hoodies to school, but wear a suitable coat/jacket. 

• Watches and small plain gold or silver ear studs (one stud per earlobe) are the only items of  jewellery permitted. As per BAALPE and AfPE guidance, neither should be worn for PE lessons. If studs cannot be removed, tape or plasters must be brought from home and worn over them - please note this is only acceptable for the initial period post-piercing, not ongoing, due to risk of personal injury. No other piercings or other items of  jewellery are permitted apart from the Sikh bangle.  

• We appreciate that some shoes can be 'trainer-like', however, for clarity, sports brands such as  Adidas, Nike, Puma, Converse and Vans do not make shoes and any footwear from these or similar brands is not permissible. Shoes should be black in colour, have an upper made from one material, which should be leather or leather like and should have no distinctive branding.  

• Hair styles are expected to be neat and not in any fashion that will draw any undue attention to themselves. Extreme fashion hairstyles including Mohicans/Mohawks, shavings/markings, lines (shaved or otherwise), dyed hair, dip dyed hair and contrasting highlights are not allowed. Excessive hair products used to sculpt hair into extreme styles are also not  permitted. Long hair should be tied back and kept off the face. Neutral, green or black hair ties should be worn as a discreet way of keeping hair tidy and presentable. 

• Make up and nail varnish should not be worn in school. Acrylic and gel nails are not permitted.

• Children may use a drawstring bag to carry their books to lessons - all larger bags need to be kept  in their allocated locker. 

• Lost property is kept in the Lost Property cupboard and may be looked for at break-times. Periodically all lost property will be displayed for all pupils and parents to check through. 

Our school uniform policy recognises that exceptions may need to be made for pupils with medical conditions, ensuring their comfort and well-being while maintaining a sense of unity for all pupils.

Sanctions 

Parkfields has a 'dress' code as well as a 'behaviour' code and we trust that parents/carers will support us  fully in ensuring that these codes are adhered to. 

A pupil who arrives in school with an incorrect uniform or with a hairstyle that is deemed inappropriate will be  issued with a letter home to parents/carers by the HOY.

Personal electronic devices 

Personal electronic devices include, but are not limited to the following items: 

• Mobile phones 

• Smart devices such as watches 

• Handheld entertainment systems, e.g. MP3 players 

• Portable internet devices, e.g. tablets, iPads 

Ownership and responsibility 

• Personal electronic devices will always be switched off and kept out of sight on the school premises.  

• Phones must be kept in pupils’ lockers. 

• If Headphones are required for lessons such as Computing, they must be wired and kept out of sight until such time as the teacher requests their use.  

• Pupils may not bring wireless devices, such as air pods, to school.  They are incompatible with our equipment and too valuable to have in school.

• Pupils are responsible for their own belongings. 

• The school accepts no responsibility for replacing property that is lost, stolen or damaged either at school or travelling to and from school. 

• Pupils are responsible for replacing lost or damaged school property, including electronic devices. 

Spot checks  

• Pupils are required to comply with any request to check their mobile phone during an investigation,  including unlocking the phone to facilitate a check of contents. 

• All spot checks will be conducted in line with the school’s behaviour policy. 

Sanctions 

• If a phone or other electronic device is seen or heard, whether deliberately or accidentally, at any  time on school premises it will be confiscated until the end of the following school day in the first instance. 

• Confiscated personal electronic devices must be collected by the pupil’s parent or carer.

• The breach of the rule will be logged. 

• If there is a second breach, the device will be confiscated for five school days and the pupil will receive an after-school reflection time.

• For any subsequent breaches the device will be retained until the end of the half-term and the pupil will be sanctioned for repeatedly breaking school rules with a day in internal exclusion. 

• It does not need to be the same device; it is the breach of rule that results in escalation.
