The Eco Council
The Eco Council is a group of pupils from across the school that work closely with Mrs Morley and Mrs McNeil. Each year, the group starts the year by carrying out an 'Environmental Review' of the school and then settling on the three areas they want to focus on for the year.
In 2022-23, they picked energy, waste and recycling and the school environment.
In 2023-24 they continued a focus on the school environment with the development of the sensory garden and outdoor classroom but also focused on litter and biodiversity.
In 2024-25 litter and re-purposing continued as a focus and the children also ran a bird drawing competition to raise money to buy bird boxes.
In 2025-26, the children have turned their attention to travel, healthy living and auditing the school grounds. They were particularly pleased to see a reduction in food waste following their assembly about this.
Eco Green Flag awarded with distinction
A huge well done to the Eco Committee for achieving the Eco-Schools Green Flag Award with Distinction. They have worked tremendously hard to achieve this accolade #ProudToBeAtParkfields @ThePyramidTrust

Thank you to Dixie and Grace who represented the school Eco-committee at the Student Cop 2 at Flitwick Library. The girls did a fantastic job! #ProudToBeAtParkfields
Energy
The Eco Committee launched their first campaign with two assemblies and a message to all the staff. They want us all to work together to save energy with a few simple tips:
- Open the blinds and turn out the lights if you can.
- Turn out the lights if you are the last to leave a room.
- Turn off electronics when not in use.
- Keep doors and windows shut when the heat is on.
- If you're hot, turn down the thermostat, don't open the windows.
- Wear an extra layer to keep warm e.g. a plain tee shirt under school uniform.
The School Environment
The Eco-Committee had an exciting lunchtime when Karen from Maulden Plants came to visit to help the children with their plans for planting native species at Parkfields - they are hoping we'll be able to create a sensory garden, plant a hedgerow and perhaps even more!
Waste Management
The Eco Committee have lots of ideas for saving waste but with the Christmas Tree Festival around the corner, they have decided to launch a 'Christmas Jumper Swap'. Simply bring pre-loved jumpers to school - any size - and receive a voucher in return. Then come to the Christmas Tree Festival and select a 'new' look and save a jumper from landfill!
