Careers
Understanding the world of work and the many opportunities available to our young people is really important. It is key to engaging the youngsters in their learning day-by-day and seeing them apply what they learn at school to ‘out of school’ settings and ‘life-long learning’ as it applies to work and careers.
We seek to engage and enthuse our pupils with the many opportunities both locally and further afield. There are opportunities in each year group to find out about different careers and in Key Stage 3, they encounter people in the workplace when on trips and visits as well as hearing people talk about their work in assemblies and during curriculum time.
Years 7 and 8 have explicit teaching as part of their PSHE lessons and we are proud of our community links and engagement with our annual ‘Careers’ Day’
We work closely with our SEMLEP careers and enterprise coordinator and invite folk in from the University of Bedfordshire, the NHS, Lockheed and Martin, Center Parcs, Tui and many other local contacts.
Careers Leader is Mrs Lynn Minshull.
