Summer School 2021

A 5-day summer school (9th – 13th August, 2021) was offered to existing pupils in Year 5,6,7 as well as any new in-year starters and the Year 4 children transitioning from lower schools. There was a particular focus on engaging more vulnerable pupils (PP, SEND, CP, HI) as well as those who hadn’t engaged fully with the lockdown live lessons. Parents and carers were also contacted directly to encourage them to sign their children up.

The summer school aimed to support children with the transition from lower to middle school, and to aid educational recovery following COVID-19, both academically and in terms of wellbeing.

The summer school day began at 0900 and ended at 1500 and comprised lessons in English and Maths as well as enrichment sessions in Sport, Team Building, adventurous activities and swimming. The staff and children attended a shared lunch each day and a celebration event at the end of the week.

118 pupils (out of a possible 475) attended the Summer School.
