Parkfields vs Alameda
Alameda started the game very strong with some great passing to get 2 tries. We continued and Owen had a great run sidestepping and dodging everyone to score our first. Just before halftime, they got another 2 tries. As we didn’t have a full team we knew that this match was going to be a struggle especially with most of their players playing for Ampthill Rugby Club. We kept our heads high. We had some line speed pressure and made them knock on the ball quite a few times. But their rucks were so dominated we couldn’t get much out of the second half.
The finishing score was 8-1.
Well done to everyone that played. Danny, Alex, Owen, TK, Ollie, Tyler, Alfie, Dimitri, Charles, Isaac, Tom and Woody.

Parkfields V Henlow Academy 20-0 win
Year 8 Rugby Match
Parkfields played against Henlow after they had just beaten Alameda 10 to 5. The first half was very tight with neither side scoring but with Parkfields showing some resolute defending under quite intense pressure from the Henlow boys.
It was clear that Parkfields just needed to keep staying strong and take an opportunity and this happened midway into the second half when Jayden, running hard, managed to break through and score. This was quickly followed by Jayden scoring a second time where he ran around the Henlow defence. Jack then scored following a determined run and Theo finished off in the corner after breaking through three tackles.
Parkfields V Alameda Middle 10-10 draw
Year 8 Rugby Match
With Parkfields feeling a little bit tired following their game against Henlow they went into this fixture knowing that if they won this they would maintain their unbeaten record. Jayden once again opened the scoring for Parkfields before Alameda equalised just before halftime following a great run by their winger.
At half-time Mr Pitts rallied the boys and encouraged them on.
Jayden managed to score in the far corner making it 10-5 to Parkfields, however Alameda managed to tie the game with minutes to spare. Parkfields had one more chance when Jack Tibbles ran through strongly, however he was held up just short of the try-line even though the whole was driving him forward but Alameda were able to clear. Final score 10-10.
Well done to all the boys that played!
Parkfield v's Holywell
Year 8 Rugby Match
On Tuesday evening Parkfields played Holywell. With a great kick from Jacob at the start of the game we were off. The kick resulted in an unfortunate missed catch from the opposition and we managed to collect the ball and score within the first five minutes. Fortunately for us they decided that we would kick to them. With some brilliant power runs from Zack and some amazing tackles from Richard and Dylan we managed to stop their attacks and in the first half they didn’t manage to get past the halfway line.
To commence the second half (as Jacob was off) Owen had to kick. The ground was a bit uneven so unfortunately it fell short but this turned out to be an advantage for our team as we were able to retrieve the ball back safely. After a lovely ruck from Dylan and Andrew we managed to win the ball straight back. We had a great streak with Vaughan, Jaden, Jack, Dylan and Thomas scoring in a row.
Holywell decided that we would kick to them again. Unfortunately for them it bounced straight off their player's chest and straight into Vaughan‘s hands and after a few goose steps he managed to score another try.
In the last few minutes they managed to almost score with a quick run down the wing but with some great tracking back from Richard who managed to knock their player off the pitch before they could put the ball down. The final score was 65-0. Great work and well done to all the boys who played!
Parkfields vs Arnold
Year 7 Rugby Match
On Thursday we set off to play Arnold and we knew it was a big game. We had a warm up and were ready to play. We received the ball to start with and Oren soon scored a try. Following that Julian scored a try by a good break through. We pushed one of their players out and we then got the ball Oren kicked the ball to the other side of the pitch to Freddie who ran and scored. Oren scored another 2 tries after 2 good runs, soon after that it was half time and we had a good team talk, made some subs and were right back out there again. Rohan and Mason scored quickly but we soon conceded. Ralph then scored a try right before we made some subs. The full time whistle was blown and we all shook hands. The final score was 8:2 to Parkfields, well done to all the boys that played.

Y8 Etonbury Vs Parkfields
Tuesday 1st March 2022
On Tuesday evening Parkfields played Etonbury. All the boys played well and we made some great breakthroughs. Although they were skilled boys, all our boys put a shift in and managed to stop their attacks. The score was 55-0 to Parkfields, a well done to Jaden for his many tries.
After Jaden had had his streak, Ditu and Jack managed to squeeze a few more off the goal line. After Owens' silky footwork on the wing he scored the final try and that was it, the game was over. The game ended 55-0. Well done to all the boys that played!
RBA vs Parkfields
Year 7 Rugby match
24th Feruary 2022
We started off strong with Oren scoring 2 tries but then RBA scored 2. It was evenly contested for a while with both teams having attacks. Soon it was half time and the score was 3:2 to Parkfields. After a good team talk we were right back out there again. Oren scored 2 more tries and then we made some subs and then unfortunately conceded a try. Following some more subs Oren managed to score another try. Soon after that the full time whistle was blown. We all shook hands at the end. The final score was 6-4 to Parkfields!
Rugby v Robert Bloomfield & Woodland
Year 7 boys rugby v RBA & Woodlands
These were the first fixtures for the year 7 boys on a hot and sunny afternoon against stong oppostion. The team played very well. In attack we passed and moved the ball and were close to scoring on a number of occasions but for the final pass or beating the final defender. In defence we tackled hard and fair and made life difficult for the opposition. We looked good at the breakdown, rucked well and recycled ball quickly.
Despite all of our efforts an endeavours we went down 3 tries to 0 against RBA and 4 tries to 0 against Woodlands. The boys efforts could not be faulted. We know we need to work on our line speed, maintaining an attacking line to put pace on the ball to break through defenders and improve our game knowledge and understanding. This will be put into practice over the coming weeks at our lunchtime clubs. The boys remain keen and enthusiastic as we play Arnold and Etonbury at Parkfields next Tuesday, 24th September. Please come along and support the team if you can. Well done lads, keep it up!

Year 8 match v RBA
Postponed due to a dangerous pitch – Thursday 19th September
Year 7 boys v Etonbury & Arnold
We started playing Etonbury. They scored the first try but we came back and at half-time it was 1-1. In the second half we scored 2 tries. The score at the end was 3-1 to Parkfields.
By James Ludgate
On Tuesday Arnold came to Parkfields. They came at us hard but with good tackling from James, Darragh and others we defended well. Suddenly, Arnold came through and scored a try but we came back with a try from Lewis Puddick. At halftime it was 1-1. After a good team talk from Mr Pitts, we came back out looking tough and with some amazing play, Arnold came through and scored again. The final score was 2-1 to Arnold.

Year 7 boys v Holywell
By Mr Pitts
On Tuesday, Parkfields travelled to Holywell for their fifth game of the season in high spirits after an excellent win over Etonbury last week. We started really well in some really horrible conditions of torrential rain and high wind. The boys did well to avoid too many knock-ons and played sensibly keeping the ball short and tight.
After a period of pressure we managed to score through Theo Ofulah and George Todd crashed over from 5 meters following a penalty to put us 2 tries to nil in front. We flew out of the blocks in the second half with a great kick from James Ludgate and super chase from Ollie Cooper, Theo Young and Alex Bottle which pressured the Holywell defence resulting in Theo Ofulah scoring his second. James Ludgate rounded off the scoring as Holywell failed to get out of their own half. What a tremendous performance and experience for all the boys who took part! Well done to the team. We look forward to hosting Alameda and Henlow at Parkfields next week.

Year 7 v Alameda & Henlow
Parkfields 2-0 Alameda
By Mr Pitts
On Tuesday Parkfields were at home to Alameda Middle School in the next round of the rugby league matches. Having Ampthill rugby club right next to the school, their team was littered with club players and we expected a difficult match. This certainly was the case! However, the boys played some of their best rugby with stand out perfromances from Lewis Puddick, Darragh Knee-Holmes, Theo Young and ‘little’ Toby who all showed great team work and spirit to win the match by two tries to nil. Well done on another fantastic performance.
Parkfields 2-1 Henlow
This was another bruising enounter against a very well organised side from Henlow. We started brightly and dominated possession and territory for the majority of the first half. Their defence was strong and we found it hard to breach their try line. With increased intensity in the second half we managed to get over the white wash twice and did very well to keep them out towards the end to hang on to a well deserved two tries to one victory. Well done to all the boys. The improvement and development in the boys over the weeks has been clear to see and they have represented themselves and the school with flying colours. I am very proud of them all. Well done!

Year 8 v Holywell & Marston Vale
Holywell 3-1 Parkfields and Marston Vale 3-0 Parkfields
Despite two losses in these matches, the boys played well and deserved more. A lack of game knowledge and awareness cost us at times amongst some really good attacking play. Holywell were a physically bigger side which paid off for them in the end and we had Marston Vale ‘under the pump’ (as the Australians like to say) for the majoirty of the match but for a counter attack which resulted in a try and ultimately a loss for ourselves. Not dispirited, we had 20 boys attend rugby practice in the lashing rain on Thursday determined to make improvements ready for the game against Henlow the same day.
Year 8 v Henlow
Henlow 1-7 Parkfields
Sometimes and perhaps more often, we learn more about ourselves in defeat rather than in victory. After the two losses on Tuesday the boys came roaring back against Henlow which can only be described as a demolition. Playing uphill in the first half we remained on top and found ourselves two tries to one to the good. We sensed as a team that playing with the slope in the second half we could really ‘turn the screw’ and apply some pressure to the Henlow boys. This turned out to be the case as we ran in five more tries with no repsonse from the opposition. There were a brace of tries for the impressive George W, a score from Jonah W and the ever improving Charlie S. The player of the match however was Jamie B whose power and determination throughout the game bought him a hat trick of tries. Well done to all the boys who took part and particularly Luke F who stepped in at the last minute to help out the team. Fantastic work everyone – keep it up!
We play Alameda the first week back after half term on Tuesday 29th October.

Year 8 v Alameda
Alameda 1-2 Parkfields
This was another really close game played between two very determined sets of boys. With Alameda stacked full of Ampthill RUFC players this was always going to be a tough match, but the boys fronted up fantastically well and played some of their best rugby. George W scored in the first half to give us an early and well deserved lead and Alameda simply could not get out of their own half. After a stunning break from Billy F and Charlie S the ball was turned over for a simple run in try for Alameda in their first and only real threat to us which was not really what they deserved.
That try spurred on Alameda and the remainder of the game was a really tight contest. Micky U played superbly at fly half kicking and running the ball at the right times and leading the backs resulting in Charlie S Powering over the try line in the second half to give us the lead. It was then a case of every man defending and ensuring that each of them won every collision and tackle and ruck for a well deserved and hard fought victory. Well done to all the team in another super display. They did themselves and the school proud.
