Girls Football Report- 3/10/24
by Olivia Neiteler-Rupping
We started off the game with some good passes from Liv M and Connie to try and get the ball up the pitch, but the other team were just as determined as us. They managed to take possession and get it down to our half. There were some good passes, Freya managed to save the first couple attempts at goal but in the end they managed to score. Despite some good tackles from Liv and Precious!
We started again with a sub swap and we were ready! We managed to get the ball into their half with Jasmine and Luenna's teamwork and good passing (and with a handball!)
Liv M managed to score with a free kick and we were able to stop them from scoring another goal up until half time.
After a good team talk the second half began and we still felt confident. The other team held the pressure on and the possession went back and forth with some throw ins and tackles.
What with their great attack and despite Connie and Esme's great tackles to get possession of the ball, the other team managed to score a goal.
In the last 10 minutes we started with the ball. Freya being an amazing right wing, and with the support of Libby and Elsa, managed to get the ball to Jasmine to score an amazing goal in the final few minutes!
It ended up being left to penalties.
With Connie's amazing goalkeeper skills she managed to keep them from scoring the majority of the goals.
Liv, Freya, Connie and Libby had some amazing shots and we ended the penalties 3-2 to us and left the score at 4-5 to parkfields at full time.
Thank you to all the girls that played; Liv N, Liv M, Freya D, Esme, Martha, Luenna, Elsa, Connie, Freya, Libby and Precious.
Great thanks to Mr fife and Mrs Ward.
Parkfields vs Marlborough Science Academy
Girls football match report
by Lara M
We started out strong with some great defending and attacking, creating some dangerous attacks for the opposition's keeper. Around 15 minutes after receiving the ball from the opposition we went 1-0 up with a goal from Lara. Unfortunately not long after, they equalised. As we kept on pushing they scored another, putting them 2-1 up at halftime. But with a great team talk from Mr Hill we went back onto the pitch, determined to win. There were some great crosses from Willow and Sophie but we still couldn't find the back of the net. Until isla received the ball about 30 yards out and put it into the top right. Now we were back in this. There were about 5 minutes left and we were battling like anything. After some good saves by their keeper, it was 2-2 at full time and we went straight to penalties. None of us wanted to do penalties so well done to the girls that stepped up. Their first penalty was taken and saved by Maisie. It was a very anxious shootout but all the nerves payed off in the end. The penalties finished 4-3 to us. Well done to Maisie for getting player of the match for her excellent saves and scoring the winning penalty, and well done to the rest of the girls that played.
Y7 Arnold V's Parkfields
- by Oliver D
To start the game, we decided to have a 3-2-3 formation with Fin in goal and Mali and Jamie protecting the defence, holding off their main men. We also looked to start positively with a good team talk, warm up and strong attacking unit. Unfortunately, in the first quarter we conceded 2 goals with some quality attacking play by Arnold and slightly sloppy defending by us. Despite the conceded goals, we kept our heads up, with Oren and Taygen coming on. We battled hard physically, keeping the majority of possession for the half. At this point we still believed that the game was winable, and with a team talk from the teachers, we were back out there ready to make our mark on the game. Joe, Harry R and Aaron W came on for the second half. In the second half, we battled really hard and tried our best but just couldn't stop them from adding to their lead- despite a top performance with great saves by Joe in goal. The final whistle blew and we shook hands.
Special mention to Mali, who worked really hard in centre-midfield, to stop undoubtedly their best player from making a huge impact on the game.
The game finsihed 7-0 to Arnold.
Well done to all the boys who played: Fin, Joe, Mali, Taygen, Charlie, Luke, Connor, Ollie, Oren, Haron, Jamie and Harry.
Parkfields v Robert Bloomfield - Year 7
By Oren Hughes
On Tuesday we arrived at RBA with confidence. Having completed a warm up, we were ready.
The game kicked off and our pressure on our opposition was good. After ten minutes Oren drifted across the box, shot with his left foot and scored in the bottom right corner. This was followed by Tyler scoring a close range effort after Oren put in a cross from the right.
There was a lot of attacking from both sides with Ralph making some good saves. Midway through the second half Oren scored from a tight angle whilst under pressure. After the goal, we made some changes and Freddie managed to get a goal in the final minutes to make the final score 4-0 to Parkfields.
Well done to all the boys that played!
